Lost of Voice

Lost of voice or abnormal voice is commonly seen when or after an episode of upper respiratory tract infection which could be due to virus or bacteria. Most impaired or hoarseness of voice due to infection will recover not more than 2 weeks. It is of a concern in patients who have persistent hoarseness of voice beyond 2 weeks with dangerous contributing signs like blood sputum, difficulty in swallowing and lumps within the neck.

The remedy to treat simple hoarseness of voice would be local sprays, antibiotics [if warranted] and total voice rest which includes no whispering, talking or shouting.

An ENT examination is essential in prolong hoarseness of voice.
